Here is the Peruvian Wild Tomato Type 1, Lycopersicon peruvianum, Solanum peruvianum, new for 2023. This wild tomato from central Peru to northern Chile is a very rare tomato type to come across! It is Indeterminate, semi regular leaf, perennial and produces 1/2" sized, pale green and one stripe on bottom, with some purple shoulders. The tomatoes have a smooth pale skin and can be heavy producing variety. We found this variety to be resistant to most diseases. The fruits are edible but may contain some alkaloids when unripe. This species tends to handle colder climates and grows well in very dry conditions. This verity appears to be self-compatible but fruits late in season. NOT a beginners tomato, seeds are tiny an need lots attention when starting, Open pollinated, indeterminate, regular leaf, mid to late season, green, currant, fresh, 75 to 120+ days.
