Kakai Hulless Pumpkin

Here is the Kakai Hulless Pumpkin, Cucurbita pepo var. styriaca. This variety originates from the Styrian region of Austria. They are also known as Naked-seeded pumpkins due to the fact they have no hull! They get to around 15 inches round and weigh as much as 18 Lbs. They also have a yellow skin mottled with a dark green type stripping with a yellow flesh inside. The plants or vines are considered a bush type and don't get to much bigger then 4 feet long and produce about 3 to 5 pumpkins per plant. We found the seeds really god either raw or roasted and can be added to a salad. The seed are mostly use to make green pumpkin seed oil. Open pollinated 90 to 100 days.
